The book I am responding to is Miss popularity by Francesco Sedita. I have read 120 pages out of 120 pages. This text is teen drama.(fiction) The climax in the story is wheather Cassie can come up with a way to become Miss popularity again. The protagonist in this story is Cassie and the antogonist is Mary Ellen.
Retell
I'm going to summarize Miss popularity in a few sentences. Cassie Knight is stylish,bubbly,and very friendly. She is the fashion queen at her old school in Texas. But when her father's job moves the family to Maine,cold and snowy, Cassie's in for a way different culture. At her new school the students are prim and proper and they don't find Cassie as stylish,bubbly,or super friendly as she knows she really is. She eventually finds friends and together they do a fashion show to show off their popularity and their skills based on fashion.(Cassie suggests the fashion show) Also they do it because Cassie wants to show Maine high what the Texas style is. Cassie and her friends win the fashion show and Cassie finally begins to gain all her popularity like in her old school. And finally she is happy with her school.
Relate
I can relate this story to my mom because my mom used to go to school in Kuwait. She had a lot of friends and she was like Cassie. But then when she was in grade 8 she moved to India and had to start a different school. When she went there everyone was all about their studies and my mom didn't even speak the same language as them. But slowly she started fitting in and she actually liked it there.
This book makes me feel like never giving up on something even if it seems hard. Also be yourself. Don't change just because thats how other people are. You should stick to yourself and who you are.
This book actually reminds me of Justin Bieber's story because the moral is kind of the same. Justin Bieber never gave up on his dream and now look where he is. In the same way Cassie didn't give up on being herself and she finally got what she wanted.
Reflect
What I want to remember about this book is that just because Cassie was different from everyone, she didn't just step back and give up like that. She did something to show everyone her style and to prove that she is miss popularity.
I wonder what would happen if Cassie never won the fashion show-would she keep trying or would she just give up because she thinks that nothing is going to be the same. I think that she would keep trying because she really wants to adjust to her new school and the only way she can do that is by tring and trying again.

February Reader Response
The Accidental Cheerleader
The book I am responding to is called “The accidental Cheerleader”. The genre of this book is Fiction. The setting is in the school.The main characters are Sophie,Kylie and grade 8 girls. I have read 160 pages out of 160 pages.The climax of the story is when the cheer leading list,for who made the cheer leading club,is posted. The protagonist of this story is Sophie and the antagonist of the story is Kylie towards the ending though.
Retell
This story is about two totally different girls who are best friends. Kylie has a wild side while Sophie is the shy,thoughtful type. Together they can do anything. But when Kylie signs both of them up for cheer leading, it’s Sophie that makes it and Kylie that doesn’t. Instead, Kylie makes it for the school mascot and she does not like that role a lot but she does that role anyway. Sophie is on the cheerleading team and the grade 8s(Kylie and Sophie are in grade 7) become Sophie’s new best friends. They are rude and mean to everyone else except Sophie. Now,they are convincing Sophie to ditch Kylie and just forget about her. So Sophie now has to decide between her true friend,Kylie,or her new best friends.
What I want to remember about this story is that I love how the story is very well written. You could read it and relate it your life. It is written like it’s a real conflict that could happen in life and it is.

Sophie actually reminds me of myself. The reason that Sophie reminds me of myself is because I am exactly like her. I am that quite type of person not really a big fan of attracting attention. I am also like her because she is stuck between her best friend and her true friend because of peer pressure. Peer Pressure can happen a lot to me esspecially because I am a type of person that is scared to hurt people’s feelings regardless of what they want me to do. If they ask me to do something against my best friend, I would try to say no nicely and jokingly but I really would not know between the two.
This book actually reminds me of another book called Drama Queen where one friend signs her other friend as well as herself for a Drama Production.The friend who didn’t want to be in it actually got the good part and the other friend got the role where she was a tree.
Reflect
If I could talk to the author, I would ask her if she has heard or been through the same conflict, or if it was just her good imagination to come up with a real life story.
I would also ask the author if they enjoy writing about stories that could happen because she has written a lot of books like that.(Drama Queen was also written by her)
I would also ask her if by any chance these stories have probably happend to her when she was small.(That’s probably why she has a lot of stories. :)
